In-house training
Dalkia Group pays great attention to the training and development of its employees. Training includes a wide range of options, ranging from for statutory and mandatory training to professional and general education to improve qualifications. In effect, employees have sufficient opportunities to effectively train and develop.
In line with its corporate strategy, Dalkia emphasises, in particular, language tuition, qualification improvement by means of extramural studies, specialised managerial studies (MBA, Dalkia’s and Veolia’s 3D, SHERPA and LEAD internal projects) and employee multi-valence. To encourage French or English language skills, Dalkia offers each employee a financial contribution for language courses.
With regard to the planning and evaluation of training, managers are increasingly striving to ensure that employee training and development is interconnected with job descriptions, expected performance, and achievement of the defined targets. With regard to the needs of the target groups, plans are prepared on the basis of the following:
- Insights gained from interview evaluation,
- Legal requirements for statutory and mandatory training,
- Strategic goals of the company.
Since 2009, the preparation of the training plan and each training event has systematically pursued the link between the training goals and the company’s targets. Each employee interested in a particular training event must complete a special form, defining the event’s expected benefits and the criteria against which he/she will evaluate whether the benefit was achieved. This ensures the connection between the company’s and work teams’ goals with the training and development of the individual employees.
Veolia Environment, the French group that is the majority owner of Dalkia Group, considers employee training to be a major part of the corporate culture. The characteristic trait is the “Veolia Trains Veolia” concept, i.e. education provided primarily by the in-house resources and using its own training facilities. This has led to Dalkia in the Czech Republic becoming one of the owners of the Institute of Environmental Services (IES), Veolia Group’s training and education organisation.
Institute of Environmental Services
Headquartered in Prague, the IES has offices in Banská Bystrica and Teplice, and an Ostrava office was formed in January 2010 and has provided the majority of in-house training for Dalkia since September 2010. Based on cooperation with the IES, Dalkia allows all of its employees access to e-learning opportunities. The training portal offers a wide range of courses such as language courses and tests, OHS training, a number of courses on managerial skills such as Evaluation Interviews, Time Management, Presentation Skills, etc. Courses and videos on environmental issues and sustainable development are included, as is a series of computer courses.
Dalkia encourages the training of all employees in the traditional “face to face” venue as well as by means of the virtual study space - an efficient combination of e-learning and standard classes.
